awarded the New York/New Jersey
Trail Conference "Extra Mile Award" "for his ambitious
project of creating insurance policies for hiking clubs". Their
publication "The Trail Walker" notes "Don Pachner is honored
for his efforts in creating insurance policies that are both useable and
affordable by hiking organizations. In the words of TC [ed. Trail
Conference] life member Irene Szabo, "He has labored long in an
arena that most mortals shun for its complexity and crushing tedium, to the
benefit of all of us and our hard-won little budgets." The NY/NJ
Trail Conference is a regional chapter of the Appalachian Trail
Conference and is responsible for all hiking trail maintenance and hiking
trail building on public lands in the NY and NJ region, as well as hiking
trail corridor protection and open space acquisition. |
